Misc. Notes
The marriage of Mary Laidman (N1968) to James Hyslop in Southwark in 1817, which matches perfectly with her dates of birth, leads to the assumption that Jonathan Laidman, son of Jonathan Laidman (M1412) and Elisabeth Bell, is the same person as the John Laidman who married Juliana Gunthorp in Holborn in 1797. John’s declared age at marriage (21 years and upward) also matches the baptism date for Jonathan; moreover, the names John and Jonathan were fully interchangeable at this time. John/Jonathan and Mary were undoubtedly twins, baptised on the same day (11 April 1776), ten months after their parents’ marriage (4 June 1775).

Birthabt 1776, London, LND
Misc. Notes
Possibly related to the Gunthorpe family of Antigua, which would explain the dearth of information on Juliana, and may be germane to her marriage to a customs officer and to her son Mark Laidman’s emigration to Jamaica.
