John Laidman’s Will reads:
In the Name of God Amen
I John Laidman of the Parish of Saint Bartholomew the Great Gentleman being sick and weak but of perfect mind and understanding praised be God do make this my last Will and Testament directing that all my just Debts be fully paid and satisfied and what shall remain over and above I Give and bequeath to my Dear mother, Mary Laidman of the aforesaid parish widow for the Term of her natural life and after her decease to my three Children John Leonard and Mary Laidman to be equally Divided amongst them share and share alike when they shall attain their respective ages of twenty one years or upon the day of Marriage of my Daughter Mary which shall first happen And I do hereby Appoint my said Mother Mary Laidman Sole Executrix of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said John Laidman the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of July One thousand seven hundred and forty four

Proved the twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty four before the Worshipful William Strahan Doctor of Laws Surrogate by the oath of Mary Laidman the Widow and Sole Executrix within named to whom Administration was granted she being first sworn duly to administer.
