There is little doubt that Mary J Laidman in the 1881 census return is the same person as the Mary J Spoors in the 1891 census return. Belmont (1881) and Broomside (1891) are adjacent, and both are very near West Rainton, where her mother Jane was born. I am therefore putting Mary J Spoors as an illegitimate daughter of Jane.
