Martha’s date of birth is mentioned by Dinsdale as being 13 Oct 1768, but this does not concur with her baptismal date.

Donald Brankley Laidman (qv) wrote on 15 April 1999: I also saw (in 1958) an old letter indicating that Samuel Laidman’s mother died on June 6, 1838 [this cannot be true as her death was registered D1837]. Her name was not given.... There is also mention of a John Laidman born May 30, 1754. This could have been Samuel’s father or an uncle, but I know nothing more.

Martha is named in her father’s Will of 29 Jan 1795.
