This appears to be a preliminary sketch of Mary Laidman for her formal portrait by Henry Munday which is now in the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts, Hobart, Tasmania. The original sketch is in the possession of Graeme Salmon, Park Farm, Jericho, Tasmania.

The fine portraits of Thomas and Mary Harbottle are located in the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts, painted by Henry Mundy in the 1840's. A painter and lithographer, Henry Mundy (ca 1798-1848) worked in London prior to arriving in Van Diemen’s Land as a free settler in 1831.  He worked as a portrait painter although the 1844 depression greatly reduced his clientele.
